2016 SOURCE Award
Women Behind the Music On August 23, 2016 Scotty's longtime companion, Gail Pollock, (posthumously) will be
among six women inducted into the SOURCE Hall of Fame in a ceremony at the
Musician's Hall of Fame in the Municipal Auditorium in Nashville. The event will be sponsored by Springer Mountain Farms.
Founded in 1991, SOURCE is a nonprofit organization supporting women executives and professionals who work in all facets of the Nashville music industry. In 2003, the annual SOURCE Awards were established to pay respect to and honor the women who helped develop and build upon the foundation of the music industry in Nashville. SOURCE also pays tribute to women who presently make major contributions with their work in the industry.

Gail's son Wayne recently shared this with us:
Mom is being honored this year, specifically, because of Roger Hamlett's efforts. He was at the Musician's Hall of Fame last March
(2015) or so, with my mom. They came across the Women Behind the Music exhibit, established and sponsored by the SOURCE Awards, for recognition of women behind the scenes in the music industry. Roger told her then,
"You should be on this wall!", but Mom just said something like,
"Oh, I would never ask for that."
Later, when she got sick again and we knew it was terminal, Roger called them and talked to them about her, unbeknownst to me (I didn't hear about any of this until the SOURCE people contacted me and said it was already in motion). They indicated to him that she had been on the list of likely inductees, but that they would expedite it and move her up on the list, given her health situation.

They contacted me in early November and notified me that she would be inducted in August or September, 2016, but that they were getting the award made up early, in hopes that she would get to see it. I told her about it just a week or so before she died, and although she was very weak and almost non-responsive by this time, she realized what I was saying, because she smiled and said,
"I know a lot of the women on that wall."
I picked up Scotty on the day they wanted to make the informal presentation in mid November, Roger Hamlett met us there, and they made a beautiful speech and took some pictures of us with the award, and with us holding photos of Mom.

They gave me the award to take and show Mom, but I got a call from Alive Hospice before I left the Musician's Hall of Fame, telling me that Mom had died. I took the award back to the Alive Hospice center and showed Mom's nurses and the chaplain there, and they got all excited, saying that Mom had left her physical body so that she could see us accepting the award for her! I attached a few pictures they sent me of the informal award ceremony from that day. Again, difficult, but a special memory.
