Wisconsin State Fair - July 17, 2004

My husband, Dave, said he was about 12 years old and was recovering from a severe bout with Polio. He remembers his mother ironing in their kitchen when "That's All Right Mama" came on her radio. He said all he could hear was Scotty playing and he thought, "What is THAT??!" He was so excited about Scotty's sound that he spent much of his youth trying to play like Scotty. With perseverance, he was finally good enough to play in a teenage rock-n-roll band which was a great boost to his self-esteem.

Dave had always wanted to meet Scotty so he could shake his hand and thank him for his inspiration. We checked Scotty's website for his touring schedule, then on Saturday, July 17, 2004, Dave & I went to Chippewa Falls to the Wisconsin State Fair where Ronnie McDowell, Scotty, DJ Fontana, and the Jordanaires were performing. There aren't words to describe how much we enjoyed the show. To see Scotty perform was amazing. His guitar playing is still inspiring.

After the show I was able to take a picture of Scotty signing the SUN STUDIO shirt that Dave was wearing. I also took a picture of Scotty and Dave shaking hands. Aside from his great talent, Scotty has such a sweet demeanor about him, both on stage and off. It was truly a pleasure to meet the man as well as the performer.
